FAQ
Q: Do you take insurance?
A: Yes! At present, I am in network with and accept health insurance from Blue Shield of California, Blue Cross Blue Shield nationwide, Aetna, United Healthcare, and TriWest members for nutrition counseling services. (Most) policies under these plans cover preventive nutrition counseling at 100%, and medical nutrition counseling for a small copay. Check out my Insurance Coverage page to learn how to verify your coverage. Please be aware that policies vary amongst the plans, and just because you have one of these plans, does not guarantee coverage.
If you are not a Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, TriWest or United Healthcare member but your insurance plan has benefits covering out-of-network MNT services, I can offer you a SuperBill at the end of our session that you may present to your insurance company for possible partial reimbursement. Reimbursement for out-of-network MNT services varies among insurance policies. I recommend contacting your insurance company to understand your covered benefits with out-of-network providers prior to purchasing a nutrition plan if you intend to have your services reimbursed. You will be responsible for paying at the time of service, and if your insurance plan allows, you will then submit your SuperBill to your insurance company after our session and they will reimburse you based off of your benefit allowance.

Q: Do you accept HSA/FSA?
A: Yes! I can accept HSA/FSA payment methods.

Q: How fast can I expect to start experiencing results?
A: Most clients start to feel a difference within the first week (or day) of adhering to my recommendations. Blood work changes are often seen within the first month. Changes in athletic performance may start to be seen within the first week, with continued progress over time. Depending on your current situation, weight loss typically begins the first week. Weight gain, particularly muscle gain, can typically be noticed within the first month of adherence. We will discuss expectations for your particular situation during our first call.

Q: Is there a minimum time requirement to work with you?
A: Every situation is unique, however, most people will see the best benefits and most sustained results by committing to a minimum 3 month period. That being said, there is no minimum length of time you must work with me, and I do my best to tailor your program to the amount of time you are able to commit.

Q: Do I have to pay for programs up front? Am I able to pay through a payment plan?
A: Yes! Payment plans for packages are available upon request. Full payment for single session services is due at the time of service.

Q: Do I have to track my food intake?
A: While not required, clients who track their food intake or follow a structured meal plan consistently see the best results, primarily when it comes to weight loss. This is because tracking not only keeps you honest and accountable, it provides data. The more data we have, the better understanding we have of your unique body, and the more efficient recommended tweaks become. That being said, I have had plenty of clients not track and still see great results, the process just tends to be a bit slower.
